A customer requested a machine that would assist operators in weaving complex suture patterns on the posts of a knotting device.
The objective of this machine was to reduce the station processing time and to reduce the needed skill level of the operator.
The machine successfully reduced the station processing time from 3 minutes to 35 seconds and allowed any operator to work at this station.
The suture pattern is woven on the pins of the machine and then transferred to the pins of the knotting device. During knot weaving the machine pins are individually extended from the machine surface by the operator, eliminating the need to feed the full length of the suture between permanently extended pins.
